Welcome to HapElly Ever After...
Here you'll be able to keep up to date on the miracle IVF Baby, Elizabeth, lovingly referred to as "Elly" and all her adventures in life. Nearly six years in the making, our little angel is finally here and we're loving every moment.

Following a high risk pregnancy Elly was born with Hip Dysplasia (Dislocated Hips) in both her hips, as well as she is a carrier of Factor V Leiden (blood disorder). Elly tackles everyday with the most contagious smile and a twinkle in her eye that reflects just how special she is.

Blessed with a spontaneous pregnancy in late 2010 we thought we had won the lottery. Life threw us another curve ball 5 months later as I developed an incompetent cervix and our dear baby boy Emmett John was born sleeping at 20 weeks, February 25, 2011

"An angel in the book of life wrote down my baby's birth.
Then whispered as she closed the book "too beautiful for earth".

Star tails and Elly Underpants

I really should carry around a note pad with me these days to help keep track of the silly and amazing things Elly does to make us laugh and warm our hearts.

We are trying to teach Elly her full name. Her translation of our last name in her head makes her Elly Underpants. Aside from being three syllables, there really is no direct correlation to how this came to be. It's cute none the less.

Yesterday we attended a Fairy and Pirate combo party for friends of ours. It was a wonderful party, although Elly wasn't too comfortable with participating and sitting with all the other kids. She much preferred to observe from the sideline in the comfort of my lap. She eventually got dressed up like a fairy like the other girls, but it was a long time before she decided she wanted to dress up too. The party fairy named all the little fairy girls. Elly was princess Violet. Aptly named given her purple outfit. At then end of the party each fairy received a fairy pouch with pixie dust (sparkles), Shooting star tails (tinsel) and a fairy forever flower (synthetic flower).

We had to put a ribbon on Elly's pouch so she could wear her's for a necklace when she got home. We also take out one star tail for her to sleep with as apparently this will keep her safe.

The last three weeks home have been an amazing treat to reconnect with our little angel, but it's back to school this week and to a new daycare in a couple weeks for Elly. I haven't been able to shake this desire/need to have her in a centre and found a Montessori one very close to our place that isn't that much more expensive then where she was. It's going to be a sad transition, but I know in my heart it's the right thing to do.

Oh yes, and today we went to Mounstberg to see the birds of prey exhibit. Elly loved the owls and spoke to each of the display ones "who, who, who!" She was also pretty fascinated with the bird show were we saw a bald eagle and a merlin falcon.
